4moms Debuts New Magnetic High Chair At The New York Baby Show

We caught up with the 4moms team to learn more about what’s new with them and what parents can expect from them at the New York Baby Show!

For someone unfamiliar with the culture of 4moms how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?

In one word–innovation. Our philosophy on the future of technology is not in the stories of science fiction, but in products with everyday uses that are accessible and solve real world problems for consumers. 4moms has consistently redefined the baby gear industry.  For example, the popular mamaRoo infant seat was developed to address parents’ need for a place to put their baby to be soothed and entertained.  We recognized that babies are happiest in the arms of their parents, so we created a seat that bounces and sways like parents do when comforting their babies.

What’s the background of the company? When did it start? How has it evolved over time?

In 2005, friends Henry Thorne, a world-leading roboticist, and Rob Daley, a successful businessman, met over lunch to discuss their individual plans for future business ventures. They both knew there were only two ways to make it as an entrepreneur: create a new market or change an existing one. After researching industries, specifically elder care and juvenile products, Rob and Henry determined the $8.9 billion juvenile product industry presented the most appealing opportunity. Enter 4moms. Officially established in 2005, 4moms’ namesake comes from its first focus group of mothers.  The group explored juvenile product pain points and provided valuable insight that led to the creation of our first product, the 4moms infant tub. Today, 4moms is a rapidly growing company that is changing the way parents think about baby gear.

What are the most popular and/or newest products from 4moms?

Our most popular product is the mamaRoo infant seat. It uses robotic technology to bounce and sway up and down, and side-to-side, mimicking the movements of a parent soothing their child.  Our latest version is Bluetooth enabled. Parents can download the 4moms app and control the five unique motions and settings right from their mobile device.

In March, we launched our first high chair, which uses the magic of magnets to make mealtime easier. The tray adheres to the chair using magnets, making it easy to put into place with one hand; and there are magnets on the tray top, which keeps 4moms bowls and plates in place during mealtime, minimizing messes (and stress).

Later this summer, we will be releasing the 4moms self-installing car seat. Four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly, and there’s no easy way to tell without visiting a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST). We’ve solved this serious problem with the world’s first self-installing car seat. It installs itself by automatically leveling and tensioning, and then confirms the base has been correctly installed.  Every time the carrier is connected, the base verifies correct installation, and then continuously monitors its status during use, giving parents confidence every time they put their baby in the car.

We are excited to exhibit this year at the New York Baby Show! We’ll be showing attendees a number of our products, including our line of infant seats – the mamaRoo, rockaRoo and bounceRoo; our bath products – the infant tub and spout cover, which uses a digital thermometer to ensure the perfect water temperature for your baby; our breeze playard, which has a one push open and one pull close feature; and our newest 4moms product, the high chair, which uses the magic of magnets to simplify mealtime.
