We spoke to Alicia Tracy, with marketing and social media at Lulujo Baby, to learn more.
For someone unfamiliar with Lulujo Baby, how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?
Lulujo offers a line of everyday, practical, and traditional baby products that both moms and children love. We aim to create beautiful, soft, classic items that any mother would want to use caring for their child in any part of the world. We are best known for our soft premium muslin swaddling blanket and also have a range of baby blankets, Turkish towels, cloths and sleeping bags.
What is the background of Lulujo Baby? Since it was launched in 2009, how has the company evolved?
Lulujo is a Canadian company that was founded by Dawn Pottier while on maternity leave in 2009 and is named after her two children. It started with a single product that she made to use for herself to care for her daughter; a ring sling carrier. When she showed a local retail store in her hometown, they liked the product and agreed to carry the line. This sparked the idea to start a business and led to the creation of the brand and employing other mothers in her community to help sew those first products in her basement. Within two years, Dawn expanded the product line, moved manufacturing overseas and had secured distribution across Canada with 1000 retails stores carrying the Lulujo brand.
In 2014, the company was ready to launch in to the US market and globally. The response to the bran has been incredible and Lulujo is now sold to retail stores in almost 30 countries worldwide. The company no longer carries the ring sling but the line is continually evolving while maintaining those original core values.
What are the most popular and/or newest services and products from Lulujo Baby?
The most popular item is our cotton muslin swaddling blanket. We have received amazing feedback on our Modern Collection of black and white bamboo muslin swaddles as well as our new Luxe Collection of baby blankets and sleeping bags made with our one-of-a-kind luxury muslin.
