We caught up with Mommy Nearest CEO Josh Milstein to learn more about what’s new and what parents can expect from them at the New York Baby Show!
For someone unfamiliar with Mommy Nearest, how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?
Mommy Nearest is the all-in-one parenting resource designed to help parents feel more confident – whether they’re looking for local things to do with their children or national content that speaks to a particular moment along the parenting journey, Mommy Nearest provides the support that they’re looking for and in a moment’s notice. Tell us about the company’s background—how did it get started and how has it grown?
Mommy Nearest started as a geo-based app to discover family friendly places in Manhattan. We launched the app in the spring of 2013 and have since expanded nationally, listing over 100,000 family-friendly places nationwide. Earlier this month, Mommy Nearest expanded into Mommy Nearest Media and we have launched a brand-new version of our website. This new web experience will allow parents to read all of our content across all devices, discover hundreds of thousands family-friendly places as well as access hundreds of exclusive deals, special events, and much more from our partner businesses. By taking a tech-first approach to everything that we do and by constantly re-investing in ourselves, Mommy Nearest has truly become the go-to resource parents rely on as their children grow, learn and explore the world around them. Additionally, Mommy Nearest lists places and publishes content that is available nationwide, with local content specifically catering the New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Bay Area, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. markets.

Parents love our geolocation tool that gives them peace of mind when trying to find a place to take the kids. We absolutely love the New York Baby Show and are incredibly proud that this will be our 4th show! Without giving too much away, we’re going to be allowing parents to win some prizes while learning more about the kid-friendly world around them. For us specifically, we have a new Mommy Nearest app in the works which we hope to release sometime in the middle of 2016. We look forward to seeing so many new families at the show.
