Tell us about the company’s background. When did it start and how has it evolved since then?
Stephen O’Young wanted to find a way to privately share photos of his newborn son with his family. He built Tinybeans as an easy way to share moments with loved ones and keep them connected to his family’s everyday life. At the same time he wanted to help his eldest son overcome speech delays so developed Tinybeans further as an easy way to track developmental milestones and find the help and support his family needed.
He met Sarah-Jane Kurtini who had just moved to Sydney from the U.K. She completely understood the issue of keeping far away family connected and they launched the very first version of the app together in May 2012.
5 years later Tinybeans is a 5 star app in the App Store, has over 1.7 million users, and offices in both Sydney and New York.
What are the most popular and/or newest services from Tinybeans?
Parents love how private Tinybeans is. They can overshare with abandon knowing that the family and close friends following their journal won’t be rolling their eyes when they see lots of baby pictures. Tinybeans makes it super easy to track developmental milestones and measurements so parents are always on top of their child’s growth.
Our newest feature is Flashbacks which shows parents what their babies looked like on the same day in past months and years. We’ve been told parents have lost hours to Flashbacks reminiscing.
What sets Tinybeans apart from other photo sharing companies?
Our focus on making our users happy! Lots of big tech companies have automated responses and it is impossible to talk to a person. We know how precious moments and memories are so we respond to every email and request we receive. It’s especially important when we have so many grandparents using Tinybeans.
What can parents expect from Tinybeans at the New York Baby Show?
The Tinybeans app is free to download in the App Store and Google Play. We also have a Premium service that gives users access to heaps of extra features. We’re giving every parent who comes to our booth to sign up to Tinybeans a free subscription to Tinybeans Family Premium worth $24. We’ll also be giving away some cute merchandise and surprises.
